Gunmen abduct Taraba lawmaker

Gunmen have kidnapped a member representing Takum I in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hosea Ibbi.

The lawmaker, according to a witness, went to visit his mother at Corota II area of Takum about 9p.m. on Saturday when some gunmen broke into the compound and abducted him.

The witness added that after kidnapping Ibbi, the gunmen began to shoot sporadically into the air to scare the people away.

“After kidnapping the lawmaker, the gunmen started shooting and later drove in two vehicles towards Katsina-Ala Road, the witness added.

Meanwhile, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP David Misal, confirmed the incident. He said the police were on top of the situation.
