Plateau seek to reclaim leadership

…as MFM FC take title chase to Gombe

Deposed league leaders, Plateau United FC of Jos, have said they are poised to reclaim the leadership position this weekend against ABS of Ilorin. According to the media officer of the club, Albert Dakup, the team has put last weekend’s 2-1 loss at MFM behind them as they eye an outright victory against their opponent.

Dakup noted that Plateau would accord ABS all the respect they deserve as good hosts, but would stick strictly to their match plans outlined by the coaches so as to emerge victorious at the end of 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, after moving to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table, MFM FC will be looking forward to getting a good result against Gombe United this weekend.

The team departed Lagos aboard Arik Air on Saturday in high spirit as they bid to increase their unbeaten run to six matches this month. The coach of the team, Fidelis Ilechukwu, told our correspondent that MFM would win the league at the end of the season. “We already played five matches in the month of March without tasting defeat; we want to end the month unbeaten and finish the season at the top as champion,” he said.
