Gunmen kill policeman, injure three, burn patrol vehicle in Edo
Daredevil armed men yesterday reportedly killed a policeman, wounded three others and set ablaze a patrol van in the process in Edo state.
New Telegraph gathered that the incident happened when the gunmen ambushed the policemen in the early morning close to Ovia River Bridge along Benin-Iguobazuwa road in Ovia South West Local Government Area of the State.
Our reporter gathered that the rampaging armed men arrived the river bank in two speedboats and opened fire on the four policemen on patrol within the area.
This came as rival secret cult group have beheaded a young man in a reprisal attack in Benin, the state capital.
The victim was said to have died in retaliation over the death of another in a similar circumstance.
 The beheading of the deceased had brought to two the number of casualties within few hours of bloody clash at Uwelu motor spare parts area of Benin City since last week Sunday.
It was learnt that the unsuspecting police officers had returned fire but escaped into a nearby bush with their guns and abandoned the Hilux van.
The gunmen were said to have set the police van on fire as they fired their way back to their operational speedboats and fled.
Meanwhile, Police in Ogida station have discovered a fresh human head of a young man at Iyobosa junction, Off Uwelu road, few hours after recovery the body of another boy killed and dumped at the same junction by the warring rival cultists.
The name of the first victim was given as Wisdom.
 He was said to have been shot dead and dumped at Iyobosa junction about 7:21pm, last week Sunday.
Further findings revealed that some of his cult members had mobilized, invaded the residence of a member of another rival cult group in Ayebelo area of Egor, who was identified as Ogbe.
They were said to have severed his head on storming his location.
The deceased body was dumped at the same Iyobosa junction where the corpse of their member was earlier dumped and recovered by the police.
Efforts to get the comments of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Kokumo and the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Moses Nkomba yesterday night failed.
The command’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Operations, Ayodele Olatunji, when contacted promised to call back our reporter due to poor network.
Source said no policeman was killed in the said ambush.
The command has however launched a clampdown on members of the secret cult in their hideouts.
