Avoid distractions, focus on His powers

The word of God records thus: “Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, pass through the host, and command the people, saying prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan to go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God giveth you to possess it,”-Joshua 1:10-11.
“And it came to pass, when the people remove from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priest bearing the Ark of the Covenant before the people. And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priest that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water (for Jordan over floweth all its banks all the time of harvest). That the waters which came from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city of Adam, that is beside Zeratan and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the Salt Sea, failed and were cut off and the people passed over right against Jericho,” –Joshua 1:14, 15 and 16.
River Jordan spiritually represents an obstacle, a hindrance and limitation standing against one’s progress and advancement. Those countries, havites, Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites which the Israelites must fight before entering into their land of Promise are problems incidental to crossing the Jordan and entering into the Promised Land. In the same vain, there are many battles and problems associated with the Jordan before you. There is a promise from God to possess your possession, but there are many battles to fight. Every Jordan comes with its chains of problems, determination, persistence, perseverance, patience, discipline, obedience, total reliance, dependence and submission to the directives and leadership of God through the Holy Spirit. In deed there are many forces of darkness to fight with. But in all, the Lord shall give you victory. Hence, the word of God declares: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all,” –Psalm 34:19.
Joshua told the people of Israel to ‘prepare.’ For you to enter into your promised land you must be ready, focused and be prepared and this preparation must be comprehensive. You must have a plan, concentrate on your vision and avoid any form of distraction. God made a promise to be with Joshua before the eyes of the Israelites.
God stood by His word. God had the map and direction leading to the Promised Land. God also gave Joshua a firm assurance of His presence, divine strength and protection.
What has God promised to do for you? He saw Joshua through, he shall see you through. Trust and have faith in His power to see you through this Jordan that is before you.
Remove your eyes from the size of the problems before you and focus your eyes on Him who is leading you. Obey Him and abide in the center of His will and you shall surely cross over this Jordan in the name of Jesus.
