Mgbidi 2018 crusade: Beyond festivities, resolutions

As 2017 ticks away, humanity again stands at the threshold, eagerly hoping to be ushered into a new one (2018). It is a time when people do some sole searching and then make new resolutions, mainly to attract better things, not enjoyed in the out-going year.
Experience, some social analysts have said, has shown that, many people often fail to keep their New Year resolutions over the years. The effect is that year after year, people keep making fresh resolutions with little or no fulfilment. Little wonder then, the Public Relations Officer of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Church, Pastor Louis Chidi, insisted that beyond the festivities and intents of making New Year resolutions, is a life committed into the hands of the Almighty God early, each New Year.
Accordingly, the founder of the church and ace revivalist, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, has set aside from January 4 to 7, to lead all men and women, members and none members, young and old people across the globe into the presence of God during what has become the celebrated Mgbidi International Crusade.
“We wish to inform our esteemed worshippers and the general public that all is set for the much anticipated annual Holy Ghost inspired power packed programme with the theme, ‘What God has determined shall be done’”, Pastor Louis Chidi said.
Already, all roads leading to the venue of the annual spiritual exercise – Chosen International Secondary School, Along Oguta Road, Mgbidi, Imo State – are dotted with billboards, and other promotional materials are being projected in leading national newspapers and other media outlets.
According to Pastor Chidi: “The programme is designed to produce a spiritual rebirth that will usher the participants from all over the world into the New Year. It is aimed at producing spiritual backbone that will help all to overcome the spiritual, physical and financial challenges of the New Year and above all, produce solutions to our myriad of national problems.”
According to the Church spokesperson, God inspired this theme, amidst the insecurity, corruption and hopelessness that have pervaded the mind of the people, to elicit the fact that our social, economic and political security does not lie in our ability but in what God has predetermined.
“He alone knows the future, plans and accomplished it. He plans what it is going to be and performs what He plans. God has the rightful authority, wisdom and power to bring about everything that He desires,” he affirmed.
The first Mgbidi crusade was held in January 2007; and since then, diverse miracles, deliverances and breakthroughs have trailed the annual convention. So much so that members and non- members alike would rather defy crippling traffic gridlock, harsh harmattan weather in the day and cold all through the nights and spread their mats on bare floor just to partake in what they believe to be the most rewarding four-day spiritual exercise.
Marking the church’s 15th anniversary last Sunday, Pastor Muoka swelled the faith of his followers and millions of people who watched the celebration online when he traced the success the church have recorded in the last 15 years. It was an atmosphere filled with praises and jubilations at the church’s headquarters in Ijesha, Lagos, as the church celebrated with the theme ‘Only God Can Do This’.
“Since the inception of the church on December 24 in 2002, there has been a lot of persecution but the Lord keeps giving us victory, it has been from victory to victory. It is the Lord’s doing and it is marvellous in our sight.
“Jesus said he will build his church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. God cannot be defeated, many are the afflictions of the righteous but God delivered him from them,” Pastor Mouka explained in his characteristic cool voice.
He gave glory to God for all the astonishing miracles and speedy expansion in the Lord’s Chosen Church, adding that the church has provoked strong revival within Nigeria and across the continent.
He added: “God’s matchless power has been present in this ministry. Several barren now have their children, diverse terminal diseases have been cured, and the church has provoked strong revival across the globe.
“The church has stood for consistency in evangelism, preaching the truth and living by it. A church of 15 years but with great impact and you asked how it happened. It can only be the finger of God. So we have reasons to celebrate,” Mouka pointed out.
Sunday Telegraph learnt that Pastor Muoka has already declared a period of fasting and prayers some weeks ahead of the Mgbidi 2018 crusade; and that millions of participants are expected from over 140, nations across the globe.
