Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Let’s sustain peace, says Ambode

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has urged governments at all levels and Nigerians to reflect deeply on the causes of wars, unrest and agitations in the country and work towards achieving political stability and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians. Ambode made the call at a Special Juma’at prayers held at the Secretariat Mosque, Alausa, to kickstart the commemoration in Lagos. Speaking through his deputy, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, the governor stated that the special Juma’at prayers is to acknowledge the contributions of the fallen heroes to the unity and corporate existence of the country and to reassure their families that their loved ones have not died in vain ..

The governor said: “Armed Forces Remembrance Day is very important to the country because it helps us as a nation to acknowledge the contributions of the fallen heroes to the unity of the country and to reassure them that they have not laboured in vain.

“We are also using this occasion to acknowledge what our serving military personnel are doing on the battle field and we pray that the Almighty God will grant them victory as they protect the territorial integrity of the nation and for peace to reign in our nation. “As a nation too, it is important for us to look inward and come up with how best we can prevent the causes of wars, whether big of small.”
