Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and chairman of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Presidential Review Panel, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe will, on Tuesday, February 13, appear before House of Representatives’ Committee on Public Safety and National Intelligence. Kingibe, who has been allegedly indicted by the immediate past acting director general of NIA, Ambassador Mohammed Dauda, over the movement of the $44 million, is to appear alongside other members of the panel.
The members include Mr. Albert K. Horsfall, a former DG of the State Security Service; Mr. Olaniyi Oladeji, Mr. Z.Y. Ibrahim, both former DGs of the NIA and the current DG of NIA, Amb. Mohammed Rufai Abubakar, who was PRP Secretary. New Telegraph had, last month, reported exclusively that the former SGF in late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s administration would be summoned by the House committee. Kingibe’s summons was contained in a letter addressed to the SGF, Engr. Boss Mustapha and signed by the chairman of the committee on public safety and national intelligence, Aminu Sani Jaji. In the letter, with reference number: NASS/ HR/8/CT.80/IV/326, dated January 30, 2018, the committee frowned at the nonappearance of Kingibe despite invitations to that effect.
The letter read: “The committee frowns at the non-appearance of the Chairman and members of the Presidential Review Panel headed by Amb. Babagana Kingibe. “The committee, therefore, resolved that the chairman and members of the panel are to appear before the committee on Tuesday, 13th February, 2018 by 2p.m. at suite 4.88, Fourth Floor, House of Representatives, New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
“Please, you are equally requested to come along with all relevant information and documents that would assist the committee at the briefing on the said matter,” the letter stated. New Telegraph gathered that the invitation of the former SGF and members of his panel was an offshoot of the memo from the immediate past Acting DG of the NIA, Ambassador Mohammed Dauda, to the House committee, wherein he indicted the incumbent DG of the NIA, Rufai Abubakar, and Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Abba Kyari in the $44 million scandal.
