Poor funding, threat to functional education – VC

Vice-Chancellor of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, has identified poor funding as a major threat to achieving functional and competitive education in the country. The Vice-Chancellor, who lauded members of the Committee for their time and energy, as well as for finding the university worthy of the visit, said the university would always strive to give its best in terms of academic excellence and production of quality graduates in all disciplines even in the face of institution’s dwindling resources.

He further explained that universities required adequate modern facilities to inject the best skills that would enable the students to acquire relevant skills in order to compete globally. The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Bankole Felemu, who led the team to the university, commended the level of infrastructural development at the ivory tower, especially the new Senate Building complex, which he described as one of Nigeria’s best.
