A father of three, Mr. Fatai Bolaji, was yesterday crushed to death by a train at Ikeja area of Lagos. Although nobody knew how the incident occurred, the man was suspected to be listening to music with his ear-piece, which blocked his ears as he walked on the rail between Ile-Zik and the railway crossing at Ikeja when he was crushed to death about 9a.m.
Bolaji appeared not to have heard the honking of the train while efforts of those who shouted to call his attention to the oncoming train were unsuccessful. While some said that the man was a postgraduate student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) others just said he was 40 years old father of three kids.
He was said to be living in Sango area of Ogun State. The victim was decked in a white shirt with black spots and black trousers while a lap top was tucked inside his bag. Some policemen, officials the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) and several onlookers were present at the scene of the accident. At the time of filing this report, the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) was trying to evacuate the body.
