Leah: Negotiations with Boko Haram difficult – FG

The Federal Government, yesterday lamented that the negotiations with members of the Boko Haram insurgents to secure the release of kidnapped Nigerians have been a tortuous mission. Government said securing the release of abducted schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu and five others remaining was not an exception. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, gave the explanation while addressing State House Correspondents after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Leah was among the 111 girls abducted from Government Girls Science Secondary School in Dapchi, Yobe State by the Boko Haram insurgents on February 19.

While 105 of the girls were released in March this year, after about one month in captivity, Leah is still being held by the terrorists for allegedly refusing to renounce her Christian faith. Leah will be 15 years of age on Monday next week. According to the Minister of Information, the Federal Government would not abandon her to her fate.
