NIPCO Plc has declared that good Health Safety and Environment (HSE) performance is an integral part of efficiency in the downstream sector of the nation’s oil industry.

 

Managing Director of the company, Sanjay Teotia, said this at an event to commemorate World Safety Day. He reiterated the commitment it made 14 years ago to ensure zero incidents and fatality in the entire operations of the company.

 

“We are fully committed to zero campaign of ensuring zero incidents and fatality in all our operations since commencement of loading and ancillary services since 2004,” he said.

 

Stating that the HSE policy of NIPCO Plc is hinged on prevention of injury to employees, assets, and environment, Teotia maintained that this also included protecting the interest of stakeholders always.

 

“As part of our resolve that good HSE performance is an integral part of our efficiency in the downstream sector of the nation’s oil industry, we are committed to occupational health & safety,” he said.

 

“Concerted measures have been put in place to minimize instances of occupational accidents, illnesses and impact on the environment with the aim of achieving accident free work place and Zero loss Time from work related injury and ill health.”

 

According to the helmsman of NIPCO, the company is “also committed to providing employee with the training and tools necessary to carry out tasks safely and actively, promote employees involvement in adhering to measures to improve their health and safety at work.

 

“Nipco’s commitment to strong HSE policy is hinged on the consideration of reward as a key component in entrenching operational excellence as employees with outstanding safety compliance are regularly recognized as a morale booster and model for other employees.”

 

Coincidentally, he said the organizing committee for this year’s Safety Week plans to give awards to some deserving personnel who have demonstrated peerless performance in promoting safety culture in the company.
