Opeifa schools’ handball competition ignites Rowe Park



The finals of the 4th Lagos State Secondary Schools Handball Championship will take place today at the Rowe Park Sports Complex Yaba. Over 60 schools are featuring in the championship which will see trophies, medals and educational materials presented to the winners.

Meanwhile, defending boys’ champions Archdeacon Adelaja Memorial School crashed out of the tournament following a 14-12 defeat by Nawarudeen Secondary School. Ikosi Senior also edged Whitesand Schools by the same scoreline while Lagos City also saw off Aiyetoro Senior 12-10.

However, Zumrattul had a relatively easier match as they soared to a 19-9 win over Birrel Avenue Secondary School. In the senior girls category, Wesley Girls steamrolled Birrel Avenue 10-0 while Herbert Macaulay defeated Apapa Senior 4-2.

The same scorelines was recorded by Herbert Macaulay against Apapa Senior Sec. School and CMS Girls who also defeated Ayetoro Senior 4-2. In the junior category for boys, Mobolaji Bank-Anthony posted a 3-0 win over Aje Comprehensive while Herbert Macaulay pipped St. Francis 4-3.

Jibowu Junior bashed Estate Grammar School 4-0 while it took penalty shootout to separate Eletu Odibo and Akoka junior Gram School with the former triumphing 5-4. Herbert Macaulay, Eletu Odibo, United Christian and St. Luke’s’ all made it through to the semis of the junior girls category.
