Kenyan President to deliver speech at AFBA conference


Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya was yesterday thrown into frenzy mood as major stakeholders in justice administration on African continent yesterday, arrived in the country for the Africa Bar Association’s (AFBA) annual conference.
The conference hosted last year in Nigeria by the Rivers State governor, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, began yesterday as over 3, 000 lawyers, who had arrived Nairobi, Kenya will brainstorm, using law as social engineering to drive a positive agenda for an all-inclusive development on the continent.
It is a weeklong conference being held at the prestigious Kenyatta International Convention Center which would terminate on Friday.
In a statement by AFBA’s Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Osa Director, no fewer than 3,000 lawyers from across the continent and international associates of AFBA, who had arrived in the Kenya capital, will participate in this year’s conference, themed “Africa’s socio-economic and Political future: Africa’s Union Agenda 2063 –perspective.”
According to the statement, Chairman of the African Union and Rwanda President, Paul Kagame will deliver the keynote address.
Meanwhile, Kenya President, Uhuru Keyatta will play the role of Special Guest of Honour as Governor of Nairobi City County, Mr Mike Sonko is the Chief host.
Other guests on the occasion include Dr Benedict Oramah who is a guest speaker and President of Afrexim Bank based in Cairo, Egypt. Dr Richard Munang, the United Nations Co-ordinator for Climate Change is guest reviewer.
However, AFBA President, Mr. Hanibal Uwaifo said “as the fearless Bar on the continent we must help to drive a positive agenda for an all-inclusive development on the continent.”
