Aguero aiming to ruin Emery ‘s Arsenal debut

With excitement already at fever pitch following yesterday’s kickoff of the 2018/2019 English Premier League season, one of the coaches that the searchlight would be frequently beamed on is new Arsenal boss, Unai Emery . Emery, 46, would begin life at the Emirates with a baptism of fire as he leads the Gunners out against a rampaging Manchester City -the defending champions, who in anyway don’t look like taking their foot off the pedal after their astonishing run towards clinching the title last season. Pep Guardiola’s side has already shown a glimpse of what it would be offering this season with a marker performance against Chelsea last Sunday where they won the Community Shield.

The arrowhead of last Sunday’s triumph Sergio Aguero would again want to dominate the headlines by hitting the target which would make him scales higher on the Citizens’ record books. Having already forced new Chelsea coach Maurisio Sarri to start life at Stamford Bridge on a faltering note, Aguero could be a killjoy for Emery and Arsenal faithful who are looking for better days post- Arsene Wenger.

The 30-year-old Argentine is currently sitting at 143 goals in the Premier League and he is being projected to surpass a few Premier League scoring legends even before the season reaches its half-way mark. Guardiola was bullish ahead of the season declaring that his team were on a low gear despite the 2-0 win over Chelsea- a fellow title contenders. However, with so much expected of him and his new-look Arsenal, Emery is confidence he can turn Arsenal to a team with perpetual winning mentality. The Spaniard, during the week, said Arsenal would be a team that attack and defend – a tactics he believed will turn them from their nearly status to title contenders.

He said: “Defensively: first it is to be organised, recover the ball quickly. “But in these two moments in the match we need to work. To say it here is easier than doing it on the pitch. We also need time, but now I am happy because I think the players are improving.

“When we are thinking in an attacking moment, I want the goalkeeper thinking for that, he is the first. Aside Aguero, City, among a host of highly rated players, would count on the intelligent and versatility of Belgian midfielder, Kevin De Buyne who is always on top of his game in a match of this magnitude while Arsenal would hope that French striker Alexandre Lacazette would be in lethal form alongside striking partner Peirre-Emerick Aubameyang to make Emery’s debut a memorable one.
