Ayade’s aide frowns at automatic ticket for N’Assembly members

Published

An aspirant for Cross River State Central Senatorial District, Chris Agara, who is also a close associate of the Governor Ben Ayade, has condemned the decision of the national leadership of the Peoples DemocraticParty(PDP) togive an automatic ticket to current members of the National Assembly, describing the action as “not too good.”

Agara, who was at the party state secretariat yesterday to submit his senatorial form, insisted that the decision was capable of shutting the doors against potential aspirants from exercising their rights, saying: “The issue of automatic ticket is not too good because it denies other potential aspirants from exercising their rights.”

Our correspondent, however, learnt that if the decision of the party’s leadership should stand, Agara’s ambition might be truncated as the current member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Chris Agibe, who is from the same Ikom Local Government Area with Agara, would benefit from the resolution since the same Local Government Area would not be allowed to produce a member of the House of Representative and a senator respectively.
