Following the event, which has been the clear number among trending topics for the week, Adedayo Odulaja and Ghaniyah Olowoyo present sic of the most defining points of AMVCAs 2018…

Expectedly, avenue for great attires

More than the real event of the night, the fashion choices and attires of celebrities always generate an even larger debate after each edition of AMVCA and the 2018 edition has not been different. The guests gave viewers ample options as they all came looking like bags of gold. From hairstyles to wristwatches, shoes to accessories and of course, the actual dresses, the likes of Rita Dominic, Shaffy Bello, Falz, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Tobi Bakare, Blossom Chukwujekwu and many others turned heads. Again, Mercy Aigbe, arguably the leading fashionista from the Yoruba section of Nollywood, was absent once more. And she has had to offer an explanation to her fans on that.

The pair of IK Osakioduwa and Minnie Dlamini-Jones thrilled as usual

Popularly called IK, the OAP and Big Brother Africa presenter, didn’t fall short of his high standards hosting the show once again this year. Sizzling on the red carpet and taking impressive charge of proceedings was his beautiful South African media personality cohost, Minnie Dlamini-Jones. Apart from being amazingly gorgeous in both her look and hosting duties, Dlamini-Jones warmed more than a few hearts with her decision to accessorise with gele towards the end of the event.

Reverberation follows Tunde Kelani’s award

Apparently, not only the organisers of the just concluded AMVCA thought the filmmaker worthy of the Industry Merit Award; many in the hall felt it was worthy that a pathfinder for many like Kelani had been honoured for his many contributions to the industry, which by the way have not come to an end. Kelani is known for producing movies that promote Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, in terms of documentation, archiving, education, entertainment and promotion of the culture. With a career spanning over four decades, the founder of the Mainframe Films and Television Productions is a storyteller, filmmaker, director, photographer, cinematographer and producer who has also enriched the Nigerian literary arena by adapting books for the big stage.

Reactions trail Bisola’s award

For former Big Brother Naija housemate and Nollywood actress, Bisola Aiyeola, winning the Trailblazer Award is such a huge feat. And once announced as the winner, she didn’t fail to crack everyone up in her usual carefree and boisterous manner, passing off the priceless notion that she never expected to be the recipient of the award. Bisola, who was a contestant on the second edition of Big Brother Naija where she emerged first runner up, was also one of the contestants at MTN Project Fame West Africa back in 2008. Apart from her songs and events hosting duties, she is popular for her roles in The Life of a Nigerian Couple and Picture Perfect and also thrilled everyone to her rendition of Evanescence’s “Immortal” at the grand event which she dedicated to all lost souls and her recently-deceased baby daddy, Malcolm Olanrewaju.

Cobhams Asuquo’s high-sounding performance

The performance of the usually impressive Cobhams on the night was an icing on the cake for everyone at the event. Apart from infusing the hillarious with remixed lyrics and proper coordination of what was a couple of staggered points of different songs, he was still amazing. Asuquo, who was signed on with Sony ATV London as a songwriter, was among others who blessed the audience with performances at the event aside Falz and Adekunle Gold.

Hilarious fashion choices

Despite the amazing ways celebrities turned out that night, some people still attended the event looking not-so-good. Several social media platforms went alive with comments and reactions of followers on the attires of some of the celebrities. Most popular on the social media troll list was Big Brother Naija 2018 housemate, Bambam who graced the red carpet looking like a bag of feathers. Others on the red carpet whose outfits didn’t please fans include Tboss, Dodtun and Oreka Godis.
