Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Joseph Dosu, on Monday said that all the national team needed was the victory recorded against the Pirates of Seychelles in Victoria on Saturday.

The Super Eagles defeated their opponents 3-0 with goals from Ahmed Musa, Chidozie Awaziem and a penalty from Odion Ighalo to resuscitate their African Cup of Nation’s hopes.

After losing their opening game of the qualifiers at home to South Africa, the Eagles were under pressure to get a victory in Victoria, the home ground of Seychelles to put their quest for qualification back on track.

Speaking with New Telegraph, the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games gold medalist said the most important thing was the three points that the Eagles got in the game and every other things were secondary.

“The important thing is the three points, no matter how we played. We needed the three points and we got it.

“All they need is to qualify, and get the job done. When Nigeria was leading, they were just passing the ball, and there was nothing to worry about because we were three goals up, which was an advantage. So for me, winning the game is what is very important,” he said
Speaking further, Dosu expressed his happiness in the goalless draw between Libya and South Africa which he described as a great advantage to the Eagles and their position on the table.

“I am happy that Libya and South Africa played a goalless draw which is an advantage for us, because Libya will be coming to Nigeria against us and all we need to do is to get another three points from the match,” he added.
