Aggrieved APC members set to defect in Ondo

The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State worsened yesterday as some aggrieved members of the party threatened to dump the party over the intractable disputes arising from the outcome of the party’s primaries. The aggrieved members include the supporters of APC Senatorial aspirant, Prince Adefemi Foluso and 12 aspirants in Akoko North-East/ North-West Federal Constituency.

The aggrieved members, who spoke at a rally in Ikare- Akoko, in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state, expressed their displeasure over the outcome of the party’s primaries. Specifically, a member of the party, Tolu Olowookere, who spoke on behalf of the aggrieved party’s faithful, insisted that there was no primary in the area, while also urging Foluso to dump the party and seek alternative platform to contest next year’s election.

“We will use all means to convince him to join another party where there is genuine internal democracy and where we can realise our dreams. “It is so unfortunate to now realise that APC is a party of deceit that has been hijacked by musketeers and reactionary forces who are bent on destroying the strong democratic foundations laid by the founding fathers of the party,” Olowookere stated. Speaking further, they alleged that APC leaders lacked democratic ethos as they restrained the electorate from choosing candidates they preferred. “APC will meet strong opposition from us as we will go all out to campaign and mobilise support for any party who welcome Foluso and other aggrieved APC aspirants into their folds,” he said.
