Flood: Philanthropist donates relief materials to Bayelsa flood victims

Succor at the weekend came the way of flood victims of Obunagaha and other surrounding communities in Yenagao Local Government Area of Bayelsa State as a philanthropist, Keniebi Okoko, a son of the community brought relief materials to ameliorate the sufferings of the victims.


The relief materials which comprised 200 bags of rice, 50 mattresses, 50 pillows, mosquito nets, detergents, rolls of tissue paper among others according to Okoko, will be shared among the affected communities in Gbarain Kingdom.


Speaking during the handing over ceremony, Okoko said, “God will punish me if after blessing me, I see the ravage of flood and I seat in my house in Port Harcourt or Abuja and be doing big man while my people are suffering.


That means I’m a cursed child. He further said that he understands the pains the victims were passing through, adding that he understands what it means to lose one’s hard earned property and source of livelihood.


He said: “With me and my team Keniebi Okoko movement, we have brought 200 bags of rice, 200 cartons of Indomie, 50 mattresses, 50 pillows, tissues papers detergent, mosquito nets to help our brothers and sisters.


“I want to assure you that it is not going to be a one off thing. And for our brothers in the neighboring communities of Ekpetiama, be rest assured that you will be hearing from me next week.” He advised that it will be wrong for one to use the flood disaster to try and score political points adding, “We should not use the suffering of people to try and win votes.
