Man held for robbing Alaba traders

Operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Lagos State Command, have arrested a suspected armed robber for robbing traders at Alaba International Market on Lagos-Badagry Expressway. The 28-year-old suspect, Chima Ejikeme, and his gang members were said to have taken to their heels when they sighted policemen who were coming after them. The state Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, said when he received information about the operation of the suspects, he immediately directed that the FSARS men be stationed at Mowo on Lagos-Badagry Expressway. He said: “When the armed robbers sighted the policemen, they ran in different directions. Fortunately, one of them was arrested.

When a search was conducted on him, one cut-to-size locally-made gun with three live cartridges was recovered from him.” During interrogation, the suspect confessed to be a member of a five-man armed robbery gang. He also admitted to belonging to a cult group, Viking, terrorising residents Ojo and its environs. Edgal, however, said investigation was ongoing with a view to arresting other members of the gang, who were still at large, for prosecution.
