NGE, Egbemode, others score Okowa’s projects high

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has hailed the Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for declaring a state of emergency on roads and infrastructural projects across the three senatorial districts of the state.

The Guild specifically scored the governor high and commended his administration’s five-prong SMART agenda which has created an investors friendly environment through adequate security and urban renewal programmes.

The President of the Guild, Mrs. Funke Egbemode, supported by other members of the group, including the Director of News, Jigawa Radio, Alhaji Bala Aji, the Editor, Triumph Newspaper, Kano, Aliyu Umar, Sadiq Kiyawo (Radio Jigawa, Dutse) and the News Editor, Jigawa FM Radio, News World, Kwalau M. Hussain, who spoke in Asaba yesterday after they were conducted round over 80 completed and commissioned roads across the state, including the Lucky Kpenosen, Iwere College and Korobe roads in Koko, Warri North council area, and Ubeji Access road, linking the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) road to interchange the Trans-Warri Junction, Ubeji, Warri road, Ozoro-Oleh road, among others, said the governor deserves to be nicknamed “Mr Road Master.”

Mrs. Egbemode expressed satisfaction with the Fish Farm Clusters at Egbokodo- Itshekiri in Warri South Council Area, the Fish Farm Clusters at ‘Camp 24’ at Anwai, near Asaba, in Oshimili South Council Area, and the Fish Farm Clusters at Ugbokodo- Okpe, in Okpe Local Government, which were established as starter-packs for thousands of graduate and unemployed youths under the administration’s Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurial Programme (YAGEP) and Skill Training Entrepreneurial Programme (STEP). She said: “We are particularly delighted that Asaba has assumed the status of a state capital with the peopleoriented projects the governor and his team embarked upon. Five star hotels are springing up everywhere.

The yearly flooding that the metropolis was known for is being tackled headlong. The security of the state is now superb. No wonder investors are trooping into the state.”

Egbemode said the completion of Asaba Township Stadium, the Laboratory/ Administrative Block and walkway, and renovation of Out-Patient Department at the General Hospital, Owhelogbo in Isoko North, and the upgrading work on the Central Hospital in Warri South and the on-going construction work on Asaba Central Hospital, were worthy of praise.

The Deputy Managing Director of The Sun Newspaper, Mr Bolaji Tunji (On secondment to Oyo State) said going by the facilities on ground the governor has delivered on the mandate that produced him. He particularly hailed the upgrading work on the Asaba International Airport’s runway and the ongoing water-storm project in Asaba, even as he said, “the road projects are of quality standard.”
