Nwosu: Eagles must beat Libya convincingly

Former Nigeria international, Henry Nwosu has charged the Super Eagles on the need for a convincing win over Libya in today’s crucial AFCON 2019 qualifier in Uyo. Nwosu, a member of Nigeria’s silver winning team at the tournament in 1988, submitted that a big margin win will put Nigeria in a better psychological mood ahead of the return leg on Tuesday.

Though he predicted that the Mediterranean Knights won’t be an easy opponent, he is convinced that the Super Eagles would take the full points at stake. “The Super Eagles need to raise their game in such a way that they beat the Libyan’s convincingly and this is the best way to go to the return leg which is coming up almost immediately. “We can’t afford to struggle against Libya because doing so will give them the courage to fight against us in the return leg next week.

We have to be decisive in our approach against them and I’m sure we will beat them if we play to our full potential,’ he told Saturday Telegraph. In this regard, Nwosu urges Nigeria’s coach, Gernor Rohr, to read riot act to the players particularly the strikers on the need to convert the chances that come their way.

“He need to let them know that it’s a big game and they can’t afford not to be at their best,” he said as he reiterate that Nigeria need to win the two ties against the North Africans in order to enhance their chances of qualifying for the tournament scheduled for June next year in Cameroun.
