The national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has recognised and adopted candidates presented to it by former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, including its gubernatorial candidate, Kabir Abba Yusuf.
Speaking to our Correspondent in an exclusive interview, the dissolved Chairman of the party, Senator Masaud Jibrin Eldoguwa said “unfortunately, the PDP in Abuja has finally recognised and adopted Kwankwaso’s candidates and they are now the authentic party candidates.”
He went: “We tried all our possible best to show to the party that doing so will be tantamount to impunity and lack of internal democracy, but they vehemently stood their ground that Kwankwaso has the upper hand than us.
“In this regard, the party shifted the deputy governorship to the other contender, Salihu Sagir Takai, but according to feelers, he has rejected the position.”
Eldoguwa said it was now official that Abba Kabir Yusuf was the gubernatorial candidate of the party in Kano and so it was.
Already, there was tension in Kano PDP with top party chieftains, including Ambassador Aminu Wali, his son, Sadiq Wali, who was also a gubernatorial aspirant and Salihu Sagir Takai, moving out of the party.
Our Correspondent further learnt that Abba Kabir Yusuf, the authentic gubernatorial candidate of the party was in a last minute move to reconcile all aggrieved persons not to defect from the party.
New Telegraph also heard that Yusuf was about to brief the media on some salient issues, which bothered on his candidature, but postponed due to serious meetings they engaged in to settled some matters.
Takai, who was a close ally of former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, but refused to follow him to the APC and remained in PDP was among the biggest governorship contenders in Kano State.
