Pomp as Adesuyi Haastrup celebrates at 70

The celebration of the 70th birthday of former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup may have come and gone, but memories of the soiree will linger in the mind of those who were privileged to attend as all that went down at the event suggests that the birthday boy is a man of the people based on how well- meaning high profile individuals showed up in great numbers to identify with him.

Prince Haastrup, former deputy to deceased former Governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, in showing gratitude to God, had a thanksgiving service at Guiding Light Assembly, Ikoyi where the new entrant into the septuagenarian club was joined by friends and associates to appreciate the Creator.

From the church, guests converged on the Balmoral Event Center, within the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, for a reception, where the celebrant and his beautiful wife, Princess (Dr.) Vicky treated them to a variety of good food and drinks.

The colourful event, which was chaired by the former Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Wale Omole, had Bisi Olatilo as the anchor while MC Ajele was saddled with the responsibility of cracking ribs of the guests. In the same vein, Bee Jay Sax and Faith Band gave account of themselves by spicing the day up with great tunes.

Some of the high points of the 70th birthday celebration were the cutting of the cake, officiated by Pastor (Mrs.) Olaolu Adefarasin and a toast proposed by Olori Ladun Sijuade.
