Abia trauma center ready soon

There are strong indications that the trauma center of the Abia State Passengers Integrated Manifest and Safety Scheme (ASPIMSS) will be ready soon. The center is a place where accident victims would be kept for medical care.
This came as the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Abia State has concluded the training of 1550 youths in cosmetology.
The General Manager of ASPIMSS, Hon. Kingsley Megwara, dropped the hint in Umuahia, the state capital that the Trauma Center is of critical value to the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu who conceived the center as ASPIMS, former General Manager.
Megwara said: “Right now, the Trauma Center is about 70 per cent completed. By the special grace of God, we are projecting that by the end of April, the edifice would have been completed, and we expect that the governor would be coming forward to commission the center.
“Casualties that we normally take to other hospitals will now be directed to our Trauma Center, so that we can effectively take care of our patients.”
He said: “As we speak, approval has been given for the procurement of the equipment once the edifice is completed. We will be on course to have that edifice not just completed but properly equipped. The center is of very critical value to the governor’s overall dream of saving lives here in Abia State and we are trying hard to cue into that dream.”
Megwara said that plans are also on top gear to recruit more hands once the edifice is completed. He added: “Not quite long ago, the Commissioner for Health visited our office and I know that there are plans to recruit doctors and nurses to help center.”
