PLASU VC, provost restate commitment to quality graduates production

Plateau State University, Bokkos Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yohanna Daniel Izam has stressed the strong interrelationship between the vision of the state university and College of Arts, Science and Remedial Studies, Kurgwi, saying the thrust of the vision is to produce qualify manpower for the state and the country at large.

He disclosed this when the management of the college, led by the Provost, Mr. Patrick Birmiap, visited him in his office. The Vice-Chancellor, who was the pioneer Provost of the college, however, assured the management of college of the university’s readiness to admit qualified products of the college into any of the 17 academic programmes offered by the university at its undergraduate level.

This was as challenged the management of the college to step up standard of learning in the institution, saying gone were the days when students of the college obtained five or six points in their final examination to qualify for admission, but that with changing narrative in the education sector the students should be encouraged to obtain nine or 10 points, as the university deliberately created admission opening for the student through Direct Entry.

Meanwhile, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the management of Brooks Consolidated Investment Limited, has donated 100 titles of different textbooks valued at N2.5 million to the state university. According to the Managing Director of the firm, Mr. Sunday Jesmiel, while presenting the books to the management of the university, the books, which covered various titles and subjects, would be of great benefit to the students and lecturers.
