CAF League: Officials begin inspection of facilities at Aper Aku Stadium

Officials of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday stormed Makurdi, the Benue State capital, for inspection of facilities at the Aper Aku Stadium ahead of the commencement of the CAF season. The team was received by Chairman of Lobi Stars FC and Acting Governor of the state, Engr. Benson Abounu. Leader of the delegation and CAF’s Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar who spoke to sports writers shortly after he and his team inspected the facilities, expressed satisfaction with the already existing ones which he said were good enough for CAF inter-club competition matches. Abubakar particularly expressed delight with the general atmosphere in the stadium, the dressing rooms and the football pitch. He noted that the officials were working closely with the Benue State government to expeditiously fix other facilities before the actual kick off of league. “I was never in doubt that the Aper Aku stadium was going to be good enough for CAF inter-club competition matches”.

“We have gone round, we have seen the facilities on ground and have made a few observations which are very minimal works that we expect the club and the state government to carry out before they host the first game early December”. “I am actually impressed in the general atmosphere of the stadium, the football pitch and the dressing rooms are indeed excellent and they are working on a few areas that I think will make it up to the standard”.
