Ahead of the 2019 governorship election in Lagos State, a campaign group, Campaign for Dignity (CFD), has reiterated their commitment to work for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his running mate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, noting that Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat joint ticket will move the state forward.
The group in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Adekunle Adeosun stated that: “The pair of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Kadir Femi Hamzat is a God sent to move the state forward especially from where Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) left it. This coupled with their brilliant performances as commissioners under Babatunde Fashola administration where they served with dignity, dedication and high level of commitment.”
The group said “the Government House is no go area for any other party beside the APC that threw up the duo of Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat ticket,” appealed to the people of Lagos State to vote enmasse for Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat ticket next year for more democratic dividends assuring the electorate that they will not be disappointed.
It added that: “The people will vote APC and its governorship candidate, Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Hamzat for the continuation of democracy dividends enjoyment. Nobody would want good things to cease abruptly via wrong decision over choice.”
It also assured the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola of their readiness to campaign vigorously for the success of the party and its governorship standard bearers along with other party’s candidates across board, noting that, “victory in the next year’s election is as good as a foregone conclusion.”
The group which believed that “no reasonable person would jettison a winning party to go for trial and error party’ said the performances of the progressive party since 1999 under Tinubu in Lagos up to the time of Fashola in 2015 are clear indication that the well informed people of the state will give APC another chance.
Campaign for Dignity, which is predominantly youth vowed that they would utilise their numerical strength and their ability to pound all the nook and cranny of the state to galvanise votes for Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat ticket to ensure landslide victory, pointing out that, “complacency can be dangerous as it is not over till it is totally over in politics and in electoral process.”
It also reposed their confidence in the duo that they would not disappoint the good people of the state, stating that, “we have confidence that they would build on their experiences while in political offices to take Lagos State to the next level of enviable standard in the comity of nations.”
The group, which commended Asiwaju Tinubu for his foresight in throwing up the Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat, expressed confident that the APC governorship candidate and his running mate will take after their predecessors in performance that left behind legacy of achievement.
Also expressing its support for the APC governorship candidate, a group, Sanwo-Olu 4 Lagos Support Group (S4LSG), called on Lagosians to vote for Sanwo-Olu in 2019 for good governance in Lagos State.
Speaking during a breakfast meeting of group of professionals with Sanwo-Olu, which was organised by S4LSG at Ikoyi in Lagos, the group Director-General, Olubusola Akinbiyi, said the organisation has began mobilisation for the success of Sanwo-Olu in next year governorship election.
“The S4LSG through close collaboration with other interest groups that have similar agenda in Lagos State intends to propagate the candidacy of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the surest guarantee to consolidate and further the development of Lagos State – a place that Nigerians of all stripes and shades and a greater number of foreigners called home,” Akinbiyi said.
