Lagos vows to address malnutrition among school pupils

 

Lagos State Government said that it would intervene in the problem of malnutrition and other challenges confronting pupils in the state.
The government which said that its investment in education was of international standard, urged the pupils in various schools in the state to be the best they could in order to actualise their dreams.
Speaking at the 2019 Children’s Day held at Agege Mini stadium, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Adebunmi Adekanye, said future upcoming generation was very healthy and bright with the state government’s commitment to the welfare of pupils in the state.
Adekanye commended parents who have prioritised the feeding of their children, saying that the practice has positively impacted on the mental capabilities of the pupils through the learning of curricular and co-curricular activities.
She added that the investment in the education has been yielding result with pupils from Lagos State emerging the best in the local and international examinations and competition.
Speaking on the theme of this year’s edition of the celebration titled:” End malnutrition: Protect the future of Nigerian Child”, she said that malnutrition was responsible for the stunted physical and mental development among Nigerian children.
She said: “I want to encourage the children to believe in themselves. As our future leaders, you must endeavour to become the best you and continue to be source of joy to your parent, our dear state and nation. I have no doubt in my mind that the education of our children and their general well-being will continue to receive deserved attention.”
