2022: I’ll be the first homeboy to govern Ekiti, says ex-SSG

The immediate past Secretary to the Ekiti State Government Mr Biodun Oyebanji has said he will become “the first homeboy” to rule Ekiti since the return to civil rule in 1999 if elected governor next year. Oyebanji said this yesterday when his campaign train visited some local government areas to mobilise support for his bid to succeed his former boss Governor Kayode Fayemi. Some members of the House of Assembly and local government chairmen during the visit declared their support for his governorship bid.

The primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) comes up in January 22. The political stakeholders at their different meetings endorsed the former SSG in Ikole, Oye and Iye Ekiti, in Ikole, Oye and Ilejemeje local government areas. Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the lawmakers representing Ikole constituencies 1 and 2, Gboyega Aribisogan and Adeoye Aribasoye, said Oyebanji is the most experienced aspirant to continue Fayemi’s developmental projects. While applauding APC leaders and members for the reception, Oyebanji said he “got a solid tutelage” in governance and politics from Fayemi and ex-governor Niyi Adebayo. He said, “If I get the governorship ticket and win, I will be the first homeboy to be Ekiti governor. I schooled here in Ekiti from primary, secondary and up to the university level.
