2022: Olujimi, eight other women join Ekiti guber race

Former Minority Leader, Senator Biodun Olujimi and eight other women aspirants have joined the Ekiti State governorship race. The poll is slated for next year.

 

Others aspirants are Mrs Olumide Ojo Olukemi Olubunmi from Ido/osi Local Council Area of the state, Chief Mrs Arogundade Olutoyin (Ekiti East), Princess Adekemi Adewunmi (Efon), Mrs Cecillia Ebiesuwa (Emure), Mrs Adewumi Adesoye (Ado), Mrs Titilayo Owolabi Akerele (Ikole), Mrs Modupe Asaolu (Ekiti South West) and Mrs Deborah Alo (Ido/osi).

 

The nine female aspirants are contesting on the platform of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and were among the 17 people that have obtained nomination forms and been screened by the party at the National Secretariat in Abuja.

Olujimi, in a telephone chat with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, stated that her decision to join the race was based on the desire to render selfless service to the people irrespective of their social status.

 

The lawmaker, representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, said she decided to make her ambition open at this time and halt speculations trailing her aspiration.

Olujimi noted she possessed the quality and experience required to harness the vast state’s resources for productive and developmental purposes, adding that her political and public sector experiences have prepared her for the plum position.

She said she is in the governorship race to turnaround the fortunes of the state by revolutionizing all the sectors of governance with focus on the masses.
