Wale Elegbede Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, a group, Yoruba Youth Assembly (YYA), has urged all the major political parties in the country to zone their presidential tickets to the southern part of the country in the interest of equity and fairness.
The group in a statement signed by its President, Olarinde Thomas, said political parties should give priority to democratic balance in their internal electioneering engagements to ensure that they don’t compromise equity and fairness in the process of zoning their presidential tickets.
The YYA advised the Federal Government to pay deliberate attention to the issue of education in the country. It stated that lack of such attention had effected an ugly reality that has put up a situation of a high number of out-of-school children in the country and this is becoming very embarrassing for the image of the country.
The group said: “We resolutely demand a restructuring of the country, in a magnitude that more power is devolved to the states, to ensure measurable developments across the regions of the country.
“Relatively, we are of the opinion that the present status-quo of governance run the country is unproductive and retrogressive and there is a need for a review of the present form of governance in the country, for a progressive statehood.
