2023: It’s turn of North Central, say Jang, Tapgun

Founding leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governors of Plateau State, Senator David Jonah Jang and Sir Fidelis Tapgun have said only a North Central Presidency in 2023 can usher in fairness, balance, mutual respect and stability.

They called on critical stakeholders within the entire North to reflect and think deeply about it.

The duo, both elders and members of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, also said they are impressed by the self-mobilisation and commitment of the North Central for pushing to have one of its own to lead this country come 2023.

They were speaking separately when a delegation of former PDP House of Representatives Members, led by Hon Mohamed Ogoshi Onawo, paid them visits in Jos to drum up support for the candidature of former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

According to the highly respected leaders, the North Central zone has given total support to both the North West and North East in every political matter without blinking an eye for many years and it is only moral and fair that these two geopolitical zones reciprocate by supporting the North Central zone this time around.

Tapgun said: “This is coming at the very right time in the political history of our great party. This is the time for the North Central to showcase its competence, ability and resourcefulness to lead this country.

“We have demonstrated our capabilities in many ways and this is the time to lead properly. We have a son and leader in Dr Bukola Saraki who has done well in every assignment God has given him. We are fully behind him for the Presidency of this nation come 2023.”

On his part, Jang said: “The entire North has always benefited immensely from the support of the North Central but has not benefited commensurately. We should be given the support this time to showcase our God-given talents.

“I am confident in the ability of Dr Bukola Saraki to make a huge difference in the governance of this nation.”

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Hon Onawo briefed the former governors on the burning political desire within the North Central and the need to support one of their own who has shown interest.

He said former members of the National Assembly took it upon themselves to drum up support for Saraki due to his versatile leadership qualities and what the zone stands to gain when he becomes president
