2023: Obi promises to end corruption, insecurity

The Middle Belt Forum (MBF) yesterday endorsed Labour Party (LP)’s Peter Obi as its candidate for the 2023 presidential poll. At a rally organised by the Forum in Jos, the group said they decided to endorse Obi for justice, fairness and equity in the country. Obi visited the Gbong Gwom Jos Da Jacob Gyang Buba alongside MBF leaders and his running mate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed. National President Bitrus Pogu during the event described Obi as the best candidate from the South East because of his outstanding records as a former governor.

He said: “For equity, justice and fairness, a President from the South East extraction should lead Nigeria in 2023, and based on this we picked Peter Obi as the best candidate from that rejoin as our candidate. “We are going to mobilise votes from the North Central for him. To demonstrate this commitment, we have chosen to set today aside for his unveiling.

“We are in support of Mr Peter Obi and we have encouraged the Middle Belt to support Peter Obi because we believe he will deliver Nigeria from the yoke of hardship, poverty, and the security challenges, amongst others. “Our position is consistent and it is that the President be zoned to the South, and we will support the candidate that believes in one Nigeria, who will transform Nigeria and do what is right, and Peter Obi is that Person we will support come 2023.”
