64 bags First Class at FUTO’s 33 convocation

A total of 64 graduating students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) will obtain First Class Honours at the 33rd convocation of the institution, billed for this Saturday, December 4. Osuigwe Chisom Henry of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, led the pack as the best graduating student for the 2019/2020 academic session with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.96 points.

The Vice-Chancello Prof. Nnenna Oti, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the activities lined up for the ceremony, said that a total of 4,032 students would receive their scrolls for award of First Degrees; 380 Higher Degrees, comprising 42 PhD, M.Sc., M.Tech., MPH, M.Eng., MBA (219) and PGD (119). Oti, the eighth substantive vice-chancellor of the university, while citing the mantra of her administration: “Consolidating the Culture of Excellence,” said that she had already embarked on a number of internal reforms to improve on the teaching, research and service delivery in the institution.
