he General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has expressed confidence in the products of the Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM) saying that the institute was cut out to produce champions of innovation and employers of labour.
Adeboye, who is also the proprietor of the institute, disclosed this at the second matriculation of RECTEM, held at the redemption Camp, Mowe, Ogun State.
Speaking at the joyous occasion, Adeboye explained that the institute was saddled with the responsibility of of raising men and women who will rather be employers of labour as well as great innovators and inventors.
Speaking through the National Overseer of Mission, Pastor Johnson Obayemi, who represented him at the event, Adeboye said: “The vision to have a tertiary institution in the field of science, Engineering and Technology that will provide middle and higher level education as well as the required knowledge and infrastructure for technological innovation that will help our national development process was born in 2015.
“We trust God that in the next years to come, great innovators and inventors will emerge among them. The college will also produce great business tycoons that will not run to companies, writing application but will rather be employer of labour.
“Our expectation is that they will live and fear God, not those who will do business in a dubious way. They will be men and women of integrity.”
He added that in some other tertiary universities or colleges, a lot of theories and principles are being taught but practically, they may not be able to do anything.
“There are some people that claim to be Mechanical engineers but will still look for roadside mechanics if their car suddenly develop a fault to help them fix it but these ones at RECTEM will be theoretically equipped and practically competent so that they will be able to do more for our society,” he said.
Also speaking, Chairman of the institute’s Governing Council, Pastor Funsho Odesola said, it was indeed a great joy as the RECTEM holds its second set of matriculation because the vision is getting stronger.
He added that RECTEM exists to be a trailblazer in raising champions to become professionals in the field of science, technology and management.
He stated that for society to be developed, those areas of deficit must receive attention.
His words: “As an institution of higher learning, RECTEM provides a good learning environment and learning administration, educational, supervising and service team that can deliver to the society young men and women that will become trailblazers in the areas of human endeavors.
“Also, one of the uniqueness of RECTEM is the spiritual dimension. The board and the management team are committed to work together in a way that RECTEM will be the best and most comfortable place to learn and to lead and live.
“To the new entrants, I say welcome to the world of endless possibilities, get ready to learn what you need to be a change agent in this generation, the one that the world has been waiting for,” Odesola stated.
He, however, assured the parents and guardians present at the occasion that the school will do its best to preserve the institution’s vision.
For her own part, Dr. (Mrs) Stella Mofunanya, the school’s Acting Rector, RECTEM is not just a reality but an embodiment of academic excellence that has continued to wax stronger by the day.
She urged parents to cooperate with the school in achieving its vison. “As molders of character and builders of society, we know and understand exactly what parents want for their children and we can assure you that your children will become champions before the end of their stay in this great institution, but we beg to solicit the cooperation of both parents and guard in this challenging task.
“RECTEM is an institution where the fear of God reigns supreme and we are indeed committed to high moral and academic standards in line with our motto of raising champions. We therefore emphasise discipline and spiritual development since spiritual indiscipline and emptiness will lead to lawlessness, lack of integrity and hopelessness in life.
“In view of these, we implore our students to obey the rules and regulations which have been put in place for optimal development. Be wise, for only the wise have the past to tell, but the foolish never want to be reminded of their past. Develop your life today in a manner that you shall not be ashamed of talking about it sometime in future.”
