Adenuga Foundation to perform free health check on 1,000

As part of efforts to take care of the elderly in the country, the Adelaja Adenuga Foundation will carry out free health interventions in the Ijebu North area of Ogun State. A member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Adelaja Adenuga Foundation, Prof. Amusa N. Adetunji, said over 1,000 aged people in Ijebu North would benefit from the intervention.

He said: “We have been propelled at our foundational level to take this giant step upon ourselves to ensure that we take care of the senior citizens at the grassroots level and also see to their health challenges. “We know that getting older can bring health challenges to the senior citizens. By being aware of these common chronic conditions, one can take steps to stave off disease when getting older. According to research on aging, about 92 per cent of seniors have at least one chronic disease and 77 per cent have at least two.

“Heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes, are among the most common and costly chronic health conditions causing twothirds of deaths each year worldwide and we are indeed bringing the health test and treatment on these ailments to the door steps of our elderly ones at no cost to them at all, where free medical screening and free treatment for senior citizens from 60 years and above would be observed for blood pressure, diabetes, eye test, prostate cancer screening, arthritis and so on.”
