The African Students’ Union Parliament (ASUP) has conferred the award of Pan African Prize for Excellence on the Vice-Chancellor of Plateau State University, Bokkos, Prof. Decent Danjuma Sheni.
The award was bestowed on him in recognition of his dedication and selfless services in education development and several works in Optometry in Africa and other parts of the world.
While presenting the award to the vice-chancellor at the university, the Speaker of ASUP, Kewul Abel, said the award followed due diligence and scrutiny of the leadership role played by the university and the community service which had led to monumental growth of the institution under his leadership and management team.
He called for knowledge sharing towards improving the quality of education, not only in Nigeria, but with other African countries through exchange programmes and academic conferences, which are some of the challenges of education in most Africa countries.
According to him, Nigeria has all it takes to stand tall in the comity of nations, and if the country gets it right, other African countries definitely will get it right.”
