Amotekun intercepts 18 bandits with over 500 weapons

*They were planning to attack Ondo – Corps’ Commander

No fewer than 18 suspected bandits have been apprehended by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency otherwise known as Amotekun Corps over an alleged plan to invade the state.

The suspected bandits were arrested with over 500 weapons secretly concealed in bags filled with tiger nuts.

The arrest of the suspected bandits came a few days after soldiers from the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure withdrew from checkpoints and inter-state boundaries across the state.

It was learnt that the bandits were given hot chase by the Amotekun Corps before they were caught in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of the state

The bandits were said to have taken off from Kastina State in three 18-seattle passenger buses before arriving in the state on Thursday.

According to the Commander of Amotekun in the State, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, two of the three buses which stormed the state escaped but the gallant efforts of his men and other security operatives led to the arrest of one of the buses.

Adeleye, who disclosed this while parading the suspects at the Amotekun headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, added that the bandits had escaped from various checkpoints after entering the state before their arrest in Ondo town.
