APC crisis: Oshiomhole’s chairmanship illegal – N/E chair

Johnchuks Onuanyim, Abuja

Crisis Tuesday erupted at the National Working Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the North East National Vice Chairman, Comrade Salihu Mustapha declared that the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is presiding over the NWC illegally.

Mustapha, who had had altercation with the Chairman at the NEC meeting, told journalists that Oshiomhole has been suspended by his ward and the state chapter of the party and therefore had no right to preside over the NWC.

According to him, the chairman had read a letter purported to have been signed by stakeholders from North East requesting that Arc. Waziri Bulama should be admitted as Acting National Secretary pending the ratification of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

Mustapha said he objected to this position since the replacement of the National Secretary must come from the zone executive, where he is the chairman.

He explained the inability of the chairman to agree with his position led to altercations and crisis at the meeting.
