APMT boosts port security at trade expo in Lagos

Nigeria’s leading container terminal operator, APM Terminals, Apapa, has participated in the United Kingdom Trade Exposition onboard HMS Trent in the area of security, ship building, renewable energy and port solutions.

The HMS Trent is the warship deployed to West Africa to collaborate with the Nigerian Navy, combat pirates in the Gulf of Guinea and to improve cargo flow to Nigeria.

With an investment of about $438 million, the company has continued to introduce innovations to help both shipping lines and landside customers achieve improved supply chain efficiency, flexibility and dependability, in a cost-effective manner at the Lagos Port terminal.

Last week, the ship made a stopover at the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa, on October 26, and held a trade exposition onboard. According to the Commercial Manager of APMT, Temilade Ogunniyi, the exposition provided opportunity for professional bonding. The commercial manager explained that one of the biggest benefits of participating at the show was the opportunity to create professional bonds, saying that it was an avenue to meet with potential valuable partners, who were present to facilitate trade.

Ogunniyi added: “Participating in the exposition gave us an opportunity to meet with multinational organsations in the area of security, ship building, renewable energy, port solutions, who can be APM Terminals’ potential partners. We believe that these good relationships can improve our operation and lead to more success in the future.”

Also, the company’s Procurement Manager, Chinyere Adenaike, said the company seized the opportunity to talk with exhibitors, who had been contracted for LED Lightning at the Lagos port terminal. She said: “We also met service providers with whom we share passion in the area of environmental sustainability and energy.”
