Women from Enekorogha community in Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, yesterday appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to appoint their leader and Coordinator, Felicia Orounagha, as one of his Special Assistants on Women Mobilisation. The women noted that Orounagha had ‘suffered’ enough in PDP over the years.
Rising from a crucial meeting held in Burutu, the Enekorogha PDP women lamented the reduction of women into the state government’s appointments, noting that Okowa should not forget that women played the majority of roles in ensuring his victory. Addressing journalists yesterday on behalf of the Enekorogha Women for Okowa, Mrs. Victoria Etonwei, said appointing Orounagha as Special Assistant would be satisfying because they truly believe in her political strength.
He said: “Your Excellency, first we appreciate your speedy performances across the state from 2015, till date together with several appointments made by you to various communities. “This shows that you are indeed a man of the people. Your Excellency, we also want to deeply solicit that you deeply look into our passionate request to appoint our women leaders from Enekorogha community. “Orounagha truly deserved an appointment in your excellent government. Remember, you are the Ekueme of Delta State and we believe when we cry to you, you will answer; that is why we are coming now through pages of newspapers so that you can hear our cries and grant our plea.”
