Armed robbers shot FRSC officer dead in Bayelsa

Charles Ifeanyi Osakwe a Deputy Route Commander of the Bayelsa State Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in charge of IT was on Tuesday shot dead in Yenagoa by unknown gunmen
The Sector Commander, Mr.Ikechukwu Igwe speaking to New Telegraph about the incident, maintained that the information they had was that the officer was attacked in his house on that faithful day and shot at close range which led to his death before medical attention can get to him.
He described the late Osakwe as a hard-working, focused and friendly young officer.
The Sector Commander, who said the victim happened to be the only child of his parents, disclosed that he learnt that the late officer was in his home when the armed robbers came through the window to collect phones and some valuables.
“I learnt that the robbers came to steal phones and some valuable but the officer reached for his machete and cut off the wrist of one of the armed robbers but unknown to him they were in a group.
“On seeing what happened to their member as he was bleeding, they forced their way into the house and shot the 32-year-old officer below the belt.
“It was also gathered that the robbers were four in number. According to the information, the noise from the generator prevented the other neighbours from knowing what was happening in his room.”
The Commander, however, disclosed he has ordered an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
He condoled with the family of the deceased Marshal and prayed God to grant him eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear the sad loss.
