Auno attack: Group condemns attack on Buhari

group of Borno State citizens living in Abuja under the umbrella of Borno Coalition for Justice (BCJ) has condemned the booing of President Muhammadu Buhari by residents of Maiduguri, during his sympathy visits to the state on Wednesday over the killings of travellers at Auno by terrorists.

The group at a press conference yesterday alleged that the attempt to embarrass the President was a hatchet job perpetrated by Borno State governor’s aides.

Mohammed Ali, who spoke on behalf of the coalition, said the ‘despicable plot at embarrassing President Buhari by aides of Borno Governor,’ was a ‘cowardly and insensitive’ gesture.

Ali noted that as indigenes of Borno State, the group recounted that President Buhari enjoyed enormous goodwill among the people of Borno, following his giant strides that dated back to his military days.

He also alleged that the governor, his predecessor and unnamed godfathers, were all responsible for the show of shame yesterday in Maiduguri.

“The attention of Borno Coalition for Justice has been drawn to the despicable attempt at embarrassing President Muhammdu Buhari, who visited Borno State for a condolence visit in the aftermath of the Boko Haram attack in Auno recently.

“The Borno Coalition for Justice is indeed appalled by the display of hypocrisy by the government of Borno State for allowing street urchins under the sponsorship of aides and advisers of the governor throw tantrums at the convoy of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“This is indeed unsolicited and an indication that the government of Borno State is not appreciative of the numerous sacrifices President Muhammadu Buhari has made for the people of Borno State in ensuring that the Boko Haram insurgency comes to an end,” he added.
