BATN staff wins CIO Consumer Goods Category Award

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Head of Digital Business Solutions, British American Tobacco Company of Nigeria (BATN), Olakunle Ogedengbe, has won the CIO Consumer Goods category award for the year 2021, for inspiring BATN’s contribution to the Nigeria’s Micro Small and Medium scale Enterprises (MSMEs) growth in the area of Consumer Goods using digital technology platforms. Speaking at the second edition of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Awards ceremony in Lagos recently where BATN was rewarded for its digital transformation roles in boost MSMEs in Consumer Goods section, the Convener, the CIO awards and the CIO Club Africa Founder, Edniesal Consulting Limited, Abiola Laseinde explained that the winner of the CIO Consumer Goods category award for the year 2021, Ogedengbe of BATN was adjudged as the best by the Panel members of the Jury, after beating his counterparts in Dangote Group and Guinness Nigeria Plc respectively. She explained that the CIO awards was meant to celebrate and honours successful and outstanding individuals and organisations that are using digital innovation and information technology systems to being about real growth and transformation to businesses. According to her, this is by creating competitive advantage, optimizing business processes, enabling growth, or improving relationship with customers. She stated: “These individuals are the CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, IT Heads or the equivalent officers or CEOs and COOs with assimilated roles for technology in both the private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy.” Ogedengbe was presented the CIO Consumer Goods award for the year 2021 by Digital Platform Director, Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Limited and President of the Executive Leadership Council of the CIO Club Africa, Obinna Samuel Ikonu.
