An indigene of Tiv, Benue State, Daniel Akishi Terpase who has been diagnosed with Ameloblastoma of mandible, needs N4.1 million financial assistance to fund a corrective a surgical operation in India.
Ameloblastomas are locally aggressive benign tumours that arise from the mandible, or, less commonly, from the maxilla. The medical condition usually presents as a slowly but continuously growing hard painless lesion near the angle of the mandible in the 3rd to 5th decades of life, which can be severely disfiguring if left untreated.
According to the uncle of Daniel, Mr. Andy Joseph who is a Senior Pastor of Fruitful Bearing Ministry, Meran in Lagos State, the patient has been afflicted with the condition four years. He said, ”The teeth started scattering as at when he was 10 years old and as he advanced in age, his lower jaw area started swelling up. At that point he could afford to brush his teeth and even eat with less difficulty.’’
However, presently, he can no longer brush the teeth and experiences difficulty eating.
Joseph further explained that the parents of the victim who happen to be a farmers, had tried other means, the use of local herbs in seeking for solution while they were still at Tiv in Benue State, to no avail. Presently, the disease has covered his mouth region and brings out sour, causing discomfort to his health.
He emphasised that he has spent about N420,000 so far in conducting various medical tests and at this point needs the financial support of the public.
His medical report from Adeeh Davies Hospital & Scan Centre at Bariga, Lagos and Union Diagnostic & Clinical Services plc., Yaba, shows that he has an expansile lytic lesion of the lower jaw, particularly involving the region of the mandibular isthmus which is associated with dental anachy and massive soft tissue component.
