Buhari launches 2021 -2025 National Development Plan

President Muhammadu Buhari, has launched the 2021-2025 National Development Plan focusing on investments on massive infrastructure, economic stability, enhancement of investment environment, improvement on social indicators and living conditions of Nigerians amongst others.

The President performed this ceremony before the commencement of the weekly virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting Wednesday at the Presidential Villa.

Present at the ceremony were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha and Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, who represented the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, in her opening remarks, disclosed that the new document replaced the Economic Recovery and Growth Programme (ERGP) 2017-2020 .

She said the ERGP assisted the country to exit recession in 2017 and sustained modest growth until the recent global economic challenges occasioned by COVID-19 Pandemic.

“The current challenges are products of many years of inappropriate policies, fiscal leakages and global economic phenomena. This Administration is taking necessary actions that will fundamentally change the structure of the economy and how government businesses are conducted for efficiency and effectiveness,” she said.

Ahmed said the plan would help Nigeria achieve robust development in the Science and Technology Sectors

The Finance Minister further disclosed that the NDP 2021-2025 would help Nigeria achieve its agendas at the continental and global levels.
