Buhari, Obasanjo: Wushishi built an efficient, effective Army

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Gen. Inuwa Wushishi.

 

Also, former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday extolled the virtues of late Chief of Army Staff and member, Supreme Military Council and Armed Forces Ruling Council, Lt-Gen. Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi (rtd).

 

Wushishi died on Saturday at 81. In his condolence message released by his media aide Garba Shehu, on Sunday, Buhari described the deceased as “a thoroughbred professional soldier, an officer and a gentleman whose contributions to the fatherland are immeasurable”.

 

The President added: “Gen. Wushishi had a distinguished military career and we are proud of his impressive service to the country.

 

Gen. Wushishi was an epitome of discipline and dedication to service, and he was a role model for both the officers and the rank and file.”

 

On his part, Obasanjo described Wushishi as a man who showed humility and love for his colleagues and Nigeria.

 

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo extolled the virtues of the late Chief of Army Staff, which included building an efficient and effective Army.

Obasanjo said: “Late Lt-Gen Wushishi had a distinguished career in the Nigerian Armed Forces which he joined in 1961.”
