Buhari’s exclusionist policies dividing Nigeria – PDP

Obyekachi Eze, ABUJA

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said policies and statements of President Muhammadu Buhari are creating division among ethnic nationalities in the country.

The party regretted that the president’s disregard to merit and federal character principle in appointments, execution of projects and programmes, are destroying Nigerian unity.

In a statement Sunday by the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP  accused President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of political witch-hunt and nepotism.
According to the statement, President Buhari’s habitual reference to the sordid experience of the unfortunate Civil War is fueling disunity in the country.

“It is sad that Mr. President is always trying to face the nation backward instead of looking ahead to a glorious future.

“This is a sorry situation, which further confirms that the Buhari presidency and the APC have nothing cheering to offer to the future of our nation.

“The PDP holds that in gathering the youth to engage in civil war recounts, while failing to take concrete actions to end the injustices of his administration and prosecute perpetrators of political and sectional violence under his watch, President Buhari is indeed doing more harm than good to the psyche of young Nigerians,” PDP noted.

It added that the inequality, corruption, disregard for rules, political witch-hunt perpetrated the APC-led Federal Government have destroyed peaceful coexistence of Nigerians.
