Charles ‘Ironside’ Aghogho Kicks Off ‘Back To School Drive’ For Educational Materials

Charles ‘Ironside’ Aghogho, a South African based digital content creator, philanthropist and entrepreneur from Delta State, Nigeria, has revealed plans to initiate and essential educational project tagged “BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE”.

Speaking to our correspondent from his base in Capetown, South Africa, He said that last year he heard that some public schools in Sapele & Warri, Delta state were plagued by low turn out of pupils during registration because of teaching aids, lack of books, desks and other essential learning materials, and decided to help. He then solicited donations from friends & family to help him raise funds through donations to procure these needed resources and learning materials.

Ironside said the aim of the ‘Back To School Drive’ is to provide teaching aids for teachers, educational and learning essentials for over 150 pupils and students in public primary schools in and around Delta State. “This is my way of supporting these young pupils and also encouraging teachers. “Education is a key ingredient in the development of any region and it prepares kids for the future” he said.

Charles went on to say; “it is a pity that most public schools are underfunded and lack some basic school amenities and learning infrastructures” so this initiative is my little way of giving back and supporting government. He said that government alone cannot fund development and so it falls on the private sector; corporate bodies and individuals to help provide adequate infrastructure, funds where necessary and the enabling environment for learning in schools.

Ironside called for donations in material resources, cash or kind, from his friends and well meaning Nigerians in support of his bid to change the lives of these kids by giving them the tools they need to succeed. “Charity they say begins at home and it is only proper that I help and support my community and state in any way I can” He stated. Mr. Aghogho reiterated that he has no political ambition whatsoever and that whatever is realized from the drive will be used to make provision for donation of teaching aids. class desks and essential learning tools like text & exercise books, reading materials and art supplies to some select public primary schools around Warri and Sapele, Delta State.
